Some bands make records…. but the Brose Walsh Band from Mayo has created a record. Launched by the late Brose Walsh in 1937, they are Ireland's longest established touring band with an unbroken family tradition stretching back over seven decades.

Tradition rests easy on the shoulders of the Brose Walsh Band. And when it comes to the Hall of Fame, no band can stake a better claim. They play shows all over Ireland, are regular visitors to the Irish venues in the UK, and have also undertaken several trips to America over the years. Five years ago, they were joined by a few hundred supporters in Tenerife for a memorable week in the sun.

From big band music to rock 'n roll, from country jives to traditional waltzes, the Brose Walsh Band continues to deliver a top class show which can always be adjusted to suit their audiences.

The current line-up features three sons of the late Brose Walsh, founder of the band. They are James, Tomas and John Noel and they are joined by Jimmy Deacy and Phil Munnelly.

For many years, they have been proud ambassadors for Mayo, taking their shows far and wide and always cultivating that special link with those who hail from that western county. They have played numerous times for many of the Mayo Associations around Ireland and overseas in England and the USA.

For years the Brose Walsh Band have been popular in Dublin where they play regular shows at various venues. From dance shows to afternoon tea party dances, they have been long time favourites on this circuit.

Back in the late 1980s, the band finally recorded their debut album, appropriately enough called "Golden Memories". This was followed some years later by their second album, "Music and Songs to Treasure" and they also recorded a video (now available on dvd) in the mid 1990s. All of these provided an ideal showcase for the band and the music they have brought to thousands of dancers down through the years.

From the bright of New York and London to the hotels and venues around Ireland, the Brose Walsh Band have seen it all. And despite all the roads they have been down, they continue to explore fresh pastures. In April, 2008, they made their debut at the Fleadh Ibiza hosted by Enjoy Travel on the Mediterranean isle. So popular were the band with the patrons that they were immediately booked to perform at the Ibiza music festival in April 2009.

Today, the Brose Walsh Band remains as much in demand as ever. They maintain a busy diary and clock thousands of miles each year bringing their music and song to happy audiences. The Boys from the County Mayo can still weave the magic wherever they play. It's a record to be proud of in the long history of the Irish showbiz scene.
